Well, since HGSS is on the DS as well, don't you think you can use the same tools as the ones you can use to hack DP in the future?

My opinion is, is that we first play them, and if they're not good enough, then we go HEX editing.

Also, what forum software is this? A mix of vB and IPB? XD

Isn't this hacking thing just an expression of our miscontent with the game series? I mean, come on. The sole reason we hack is because we want to improve things and show it to our audience, yet we play every Pokemon that comes out. Isn't that a bit weird

No, it's not weird!
Of course, we want to improve them, with our ROM hacking minds, we want to improve it, and to know that, we must first play them.

i mean we need to play the game first to get the sort of insight of the game.

Don't you guys find it weird, how there are more and better tools for RSE and FRLG than GSC and RBY? And they were made before them too, so I find it a bit odd o_0

The reason is the inferior graphics so there are very few tools for the 1st and 2nd generation games.

Another reason is that the GB rom files are smaller, so you can only hack them using hex. Plus, there seems to be less popularity about the GB games BECAUSE of the fact you can only hack them using Hex

Well, yeah, but there are barely any trainer editors, so much was hard to hack GSC and RBY... Coolboyman is a legend. T_T

Coolboyman is an ASM hacker...And he is a legend...But there are tools that are mighty useful for hacking GSC/RB...Though most are editors of various things...like Pokemon and trainer data...But the best way to hack 1 & 2 Gen. games...Is though hexing...Which is very hard...

Then why would hacking further generations make any sense?

Because they are more advanced and have better graphics..
It's probably a lot easier to hack further generations.

Yeah,your right and also the size of the rom is a great factor for rom hackers and you know the sizes of those 1st and 2nd gen games.

Yeah since there is more rom space and better graphics programmers made tools for us to use. I personally like hacking 3rd gen games because of the capabilities for sprites.

ya hacking a 1st and 2nd makes no sense because i don't think there is enough free space.

Yeah the overall capabilities are worse so there really is no point.
